J11 - Motor Supply Source Jumper
This is used to select the power supply for the motor.  If you jumper pins 1 and 2 together, then you can use a single battery supply for both the microcontroller as well as the motors; it must be less than 25 volts; connect this battery to J2.  With voltage regulator U6 installed, you will have a +5v regulated supply on Vdd to the electronics, with the full battery voltage available to the motors.

 Alternatively, if you jumper pins 2 and 3 together, you can use separate battery supplies for the electronics and the motors.  In this case, the batteries for the electronics connect to J2, and the batteries for the motors connect to J3.

A third alternative is to use a single supply as low as 4.5v for electronics and the motors, with no regulation for supplies needed below 5.5v (assuming low motor noise).  In this case, you can omit the voltage regulator U6, jumpering pins 1 and 3 in the process to connect J2 pin 1 directly to Vdd on the electronics.

Switches:

S1 - Reset
reset switch for the microcontroller

S2 - Mode

general purpose mode switch; SW1 corresponds to the reading of zero if on (up) or one if off on U1 pin 24 (RB3).  SW2 reads as a zero if on (up) or a one if off on U1 pin 23 (RB2).

S3 - Power
turns board on when positioned towards J3; off when positioned towards the nearest corner of the board
